Agua de Valencia is the most traditional cocktail in Valencia.
It is unique, special and unmatched due to the perfect combination that has been obtained from natural juice from the best oranges in the world, the Valencian ones.
A slightly sweet cocktail, with a touch of carbonic that makes it refreshing and very, very appealing and for all kinds of celebrations.
Agua de Valencia recipe: the traditional Valencia water recipe consists of mixing:
- Organic oranges juice and sparkling wine in equal parts (cava or champagne)
- A bit of Geneva
- A little Ron
- A bit of Cointreau (it can also be vodka)
- Sugar
- Crushed ice
- It is a drink that should be served very cold, ideally with the glasses freshly taken out of the freezer and even to give it a more professional touch we can dip the glass in water and then in sugar to leave it as they prepare it in the bars.

The history of Agua de Valencia goes back to 1959, when in a well-known café in Valencia,
a group of Basques used to ask for "Agua de Bilbao" (name by which they referred to the best sparkling coffee),
they decided to challenge the owner asking a "Valencia Water". Constante Gil, owner of this tavern, accepted the challenge that
his customers asked him and that is how he was born and made known to the famous "Agua de Valencia", a delicious
and Mediterranean drink created from the best Valencian orange juice.
